Hittin' Friday Night Lights Hard

What a way to make a statement about the county — seven of its eight teams lost and the only victory was Reading's, in a game against another county squad, Camden-Frontier. The most surprising outcome was Hillsdale's, not so much because they lost to Hudson, 40-26, but because their defense was porous and gave up over 400 yards on the ground.

Reading 55, Camden-Frontier 31
Reading jumped out to a 20-0 lead but C-F held strong by putting 20 on the board in the second. The only problem? The Rangers put another 20-spot on them as well. Brian Rauth was the Player of the Day in the HDN from Friday nights games, as he tallied 237 yards and four TDs on 22 carries. His longest run was 77 yards and he also hauled in a 29-yard TD pass from Joe Hubbard who went 6-for-9 for 104 yards. The Redskins new spread offense looks legit from the stats. Kurtis Tyler passed for 174 yards and Brady Nusbaum caught nine passes for 126 yards.

Ottawa Lake Whiteford 34, Pittsford 13
Pittsford took an early 7-0 lead, but it was downhill from there on out. The simple fact was they could not stop Whiteford QB Travis Pant, who did it all Friday. He ran for 118 yards on 11 carries, scoring three times; he also threw for 105 yards, including a 50-yard TD bomb to Jake Dupree. The Wildcats passing game struggled, as Garet Lee was picked off once and completed just three passes for 29 yards. He was fleet footed as usual though, gaining 139 yards on 13 carries. Taylor Hatfield added 39 yards on seven rushes.

Bellevue 26, Litchfield 0
Despite plenty of hope and a lot of returning starters Litchfield was blanked Friday. They put up 301 yards offense, but two turnovers hurt their cause. Little man Michael Henley played big as expected, gaining 94 yards rushing on 13 carries to go with a team-high 8 tackles. Jordan Fox threw the ball 25 times, but totaled just 57 yards on 10 completions. He was picked off once. Head coach Mike Granger did not keep Bellevue's stats.

Adrian Madison 34, North Adams-Jerome 19
David Wick was a gamer Friday, but his team still came up short. Wick ran for 126 yards and a TD, while catching six passes for 58 yards and two scores. Dakota George threw for 150 yards (16-of-29) and two scores, but he was intercepted three times. Matt McCormick led the Rams with 10 tackles. No Adrian Madison stats were available.

Britton-Macon 26, Waldron 14
24-year-old Jimmy Biggs lost his first game as the Spartans new coach. No stats were available from Waldron.
