Rams take two from Terriers
Megan Brown was still recovering from a concussion and Mallory Trumble and Katlyn Smith were out sick, but several youngsters came up big to help the Rams move to 21-3 overall and 6-0 in the SCAA.
Sophomore Sydney Alley came up from the JV squad to put down 29 of 30 serves and classmate Savannah Andrews had six kills.
"I have 10 really good volleyball players, I'm lucky, not many coaches can say that," N A-J head coach Darren Kittle said.
The Rams beat Litchfield 25-13, 25-16 in the first match and 25-12, 25-12 in the second.
Kristen Trudell had 44 assists, six kills and four aces, while Miranda Hammons had 19 kills, 18 digs and three aces. Shannen Kittle added 23 digs and 12 kills.
Darren Kittle said he's glad his team doesn't play again until Oct. 1, thus giving them some time to get healthy.
Pittsford and C-F both get one
With a strong finish to the evening the Wildcats managed a doubleheader split with the Redskins.
Camden-Frontier won the first match 25-18, 25-21 and Pittsford took the second 25-23, 20-25, 15-6.
For the Redskins, Jessica Hines had eight kills, eight assists and four aces, while Effie Spieth had 31 digs and four aces.
Danielle Abney had 13 kills, Morgan Warfield had 15 assists and five kills and Megan Schwartzengraber tallied 18 digs and 10 kills.
The Redskins are 10-6-3 overall and 5-3 in the SCAA. Pittsford stats were unavailable.
Colts sweep Indians
Hillsdale Academy kept rolling along in SCAA play with a doubleheader sweep of Tekonsha.
The Academy won the first match 25-9, 25-18 and took the second match 25-15, 25-18.
No individual stats were available.
Quincy outlasts Homer
The Orioles won a tough road contest Tuesday, ousting Homer in four games, 25-22, 25-15, 27-25, 25-21.
"They were a tough little Homer team, but a little inexperienced, and our experience paid off," Quincy head coach Dean Neitzert said.
Alex Neitzert had 20 digs and 13 kills, Joslyn Dwyer had 10 kills and Deanna O'Dell had 12 digs.
Sinora Finley had 13 digs and four aces for the Orioles who are now 16-12-3 overall and 2-0 in league play.
Reading falls to Union City
The Chargers beat the Rangers in three sets, 25-17, 25-23, 25-21.
Jessica Fink had 15 assists for Reading and Megan Kovacic had eight digs.
Nicole Marsh added nine digs and Kaitlyn Parker had seven kills.
Boys soccer
Hillsdale Academy 7, Clinton 1
Sawyer Moss and Nekoda Cartwright led the scoring effort Monday night for the Academy with two goals each, and Moss also had one assist.
Also scoring goals for the Colts were Adam Krutsch, who assisted on another goal, Eric Lisznyai and Daniel Karlovich.
Peter Sullivan was the winning goal keeper for the Academy.
The Academy's record improves to 7 - 2 and their next game is a key ISL battle on Thursday at Jonesville High School.
