C-F takes down Litchfield twice
The Redskins earned two SCAA wins Tuesday, downing Litchfield 25-12, 25-18 and 25-14, 25-14.
Morgan Warfield tallied 10 assists and four aces and Danielle Abney had nine kills and nine aces.
Effie Spieth added nine digs and four aces, Jessica Hines had nine assists, six kills and three aces, and Jenna Hines totaled seven digs.
C-F is now 23-14-6 overall and 9-5 in SCAA play.
They head to the league tournament at Litchfield Saturday.
Reading falls to Concord
The Rangers played solid defense and put forth consistent effort Tuesday, but their hitting struggled and ultimately they fell to the Yellow Jackets 20-25, 17-25, 19-25.
Megan Kovacic led the Rangers with 18 digs and Jessica Fink had 14 assists.
Nicole Marsh added 13 digs and six kills, while Emily Sigler totaled seven kills and six digs.
N A-J sweeps Pittsford
The Rams geared up for a big-time showdown with Hillsdale Academy Thursday by sweeping Pittsford on the Wildcats home floor, 25-23, 25-15, 25-11.
“The first one was really close and Pittsford came out playing inspired,” N A-J head coach Darren Kittle said. “They are a dangerous team and I'm glad we got out of there with a win.”
Kristen Trudell led the Rams with 25 assists, eight digs and seven kills, while Miranda Hammons tallied 12 kills and nine digs.
Shannen Kittle added 20 digs, Mallory Trumble had nine digs and five kills and Megan Brown had six kills.
The Rams are ranked No. 3 in the latest Class D poll and they are 34-3 overall and 12-0 in the SCAA East.
Quincy takes down Union City
Quincy's powerful offense proved to be too much for the Chargers Tuesday, as the Orioles took the Big 8 match 24-26, 25-18, 25-8, 25-8.
Quincy head coach Dean Neitzert said Union City was a tough opponent, but they didn't have quite the same caliber of athletes.
“In the first match we had a tough time putting the ball on the floor and we mishandled some balls we should have had,” he said, “Then we started getting into sort of a groove and we absolutely handed laid the wood on them in that third game.”
Alix Neitzert had 25 digs and 13 kills in the win, and Deanna O'Dell added 17 digs and seven kills.
Sinora Finley had 14 kills and Amanda Walogora tallied a team-high 29 digs.
Homer ousts Jonesville
The Comets lost a close match to Homer 24-26, 25-21, 19-25, 10-25 Tuesday. Brittney Weinberg had 10 kills for Jonesville and Jenna Kast had nine kills.
Olivia Rowe added eight kills and Chelsea Taylor tallied 22 digs,
Shaila Rossman had five blocks and Shanuna Ladd added four blocks.
