Albion City Council could soon have open seat

THE ISSUE: Precinct 3 council representative Thorland Bradley has not contacted any council member since early June, and City Manager Mike Herman said the council is anticipating a possible letter of resignation.

THE BACKGROUND: Bradley has not attended a meeting since telling Herman and Mayor Joe Domingo he was going to Washington, D.C., for job training, Herman said. City Attorney Charles Robison said because the council did not formally excuse Bradley and he likely has not been active in the City Council for 60 days, his seat could be automatically vacated per a city ordinance.

WHAT HAPPENED MONDAY: Herman acknowledged that Bradley's wife brought in his City Council "materials" about a week and a half ago, said he was done and that they were moving. Precinct 3 resident Nida Wolf voiced her concern that her precinct was not being represented and encouraged the council to make a swift determination.

WHAT'S NEXT: The council agreed to look into the exact number of days Bradley has been absent, and Herman said the city would also try to reach him directly. If a resignation is approved, the council would have 60 days to fill the vacancy.
