Aaron Falk earns second NCAA Automatic-Qualifying mark of his career
Also breaks own school record
Junior Aaron Falk, just three weeks after earning All-American status in the weight throw for the indoor season, has guaranteed himself a chance to compete for the same honor during the outdoor season. Falk launched the hammer 62.24m (204-02) earning himself an automatic bid to the National Championship meet which will be held in San Angelo, Texas May 21st thru the 23rd.
Falk’s throw is not only three meters better than the automatic mark, but also breaks his own school record set during last season. Falk took second place and could have the top throw in the country when the new performance lists are posted.
The Chargers finished with two third place finishes in the sprint events. Freshman Skylar Dooley finished the 100m dash in 10.98 seconds while junior Jared Krout clocked in at 48.67 seconds in the 400m dash. Krout also took seventh place in the long jump with a mark of 6.73m (22-01).
Freshman Tim Jagielski finished with a third and fifth place finish on Saturday. Jagielski ran a time of 3:57.30 in the 1,500m run and finished the 5,000m run in 14:56.51.
Senior Andrew Dodson and junior Kurt Weil both took fifth place in their respective events. Dodson jumped 2.00m (6-06 ¾) in the high jump while Weil threw the shot put 44.83m (147-01).

Jazmin Williams win the 400m Hurdles at the Mike Poehlein Invitational
Earns NCAA Provisional-Qualifying time and breaks school record
Junior Jazmin Williams wasted no time in earning her first NCAA Provisional-Qualifying time of the young 2009 outdoor track and field season. Williams took first place in the 400m hurdles ahead of several Division I athletes at the Mike Poehlein Invitational held at Purdue University this weekend. Her time of 1:01.33 seconds not only eclipses the provisional time by more than a second and a half, it also breaks the school record which had previously stood for 10 years.
Senior Sarak Kauak also earned a NCAA Provisional-Qualifying mark for the Chargers on Saturday afternoon. Kauk, who narrowly missed qualifying for the National Championship meet during the indoor season, matched her own school record with a jump of 3.70m (12-01 ½) and earned a third place finish.
Sophomore Marta Scheiwe also bested several Division I athletes in her third place finish in the 400m dash. Scheiwe finished the event in 57.98 seconds despite the chilly weather.
Juniors Katie Hunt and Anna Leutheuser both turned in a pair of strong performances. Hunt took a fourth place finish in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.84 seconds and finished seventh in the long jump with a mark of 5.38m (17-08). Leutheuser continued her successful season with a seventh place finish in the hammer throw (47.19m, 154-10) and a fifth place finish in the javelin (34.73m, 113-11).
The Chargers next compete at the Miami Team Challenge April 10th-11th in Oxford, Ohio.
