Hornets end game on 7-0 run to get by   Northwest
Hillsdale continued to make early-season strides with a whole new look, by taking out Jackson Northwest 50-43 in a road test Tuesday.
The Hornets started and finished strong, getting out to a 17-11 lead after one quarter, and finishing Northwest off with a 7-0 run at the finish, which included a tie-breaking triple from Kurtis Condon.
Condon led all scorers with 21 points, including four 3-pointers, and Hillsdale coach Brad Felix was happy with one of his go-to-guys.
“It’s the third different leading scorer we’ve had in three games and tonight Kurtis just made some big 3’s for us and opened things up,” Felix said.
Nick Reiniche tallied 11 points and nine rebounds in the win and Nick Bakerjian was good for eight points and three steals.
The Hornets forced 21 turnovers as a team and Felix said a third-quarter adjustment paid huge dividends.
 “(Tyler Cummings) was a load inside and in the third quarter Northwest started forcing the ball inside to him and he had all six of his points in that quarter,” Felix said. “We called a timeout and we went into a zone, which isn’t my style a lot of the time, and we stayed in it and started stymieing them.”
Cummings added nine boards in the loss, while Riley Luttenton had 13 points and three assists.
The Hornets are now 2-1.

Rangers topple Panthers in overtime thriller
Mitch Hubbard didn’t have any of his voice left following Tuesday’s win over Addison, but his teams’ perfect record remained fully in tact.
The Rangers won a hard-fought non-conference game 76-66 by out-scoring the Panthers 13-3 in overtime after Addison had a final chance to win it in regulation.
“We needed that kind of test. It was kind of sloppy and there were a lot of fouls, but even with some of the experience we have there are a lot of young guys and this was big heading into Big Eight play,” Hubbard said.
Joe Hubbard led Reading with 24 points, including four 3-pointers and he added three steals at the defensive end.
Alex Eastwood tallied 15 points and 11 boards, while Trevor Shafer added 10 points and four steals.
Addison had three players in double-figures, led by 24 from Robert Simko.
Cody Robidoux added 16 and Dylan Curtis scored 15.
The Rangers shot 44 free throws as a team, sinking 30 of them.
Reading will take its 3-0 mark on the road to Quincy Thursday.

Pittsford triumphs in dramatic fashion
Tuesday’s barnburner in Hudson was the kind where it’s hard to fault the loser, but Ryan Hoover was likely elated to see his team earn its first victory in exciting fashion.
Pittsford’s Alexis Cramer drilled a 3-pointer with 0:00 on the clock in regulation to send the game into overtime and eventually the Wildcats prevailed 52-43 in double overtime, after the Tigers nailed a field goal at the end of the first overtime.
Katelyn Kipfmiller and Cramer scored 16 and 14 points respectively to lead the ‘Cats, both hitting a pair of 3-pointers in the process.
Nicole Culbert added six points.
Sarah Luma and Ashley Boies tied for the game-high in points with 18 apiece for the Tigers.

Comets take out Big Eight foe
Jonesville pulled out a Big Eight battle at home Tuesday, with a 39-34 win over Concord.
Brooke Nichols had a good all-around game for the Comets with 12 points, six rebounds and five assists, while Ashlende Teller had a team-high 13 points.
Shaila Rossman added six points and eight rebounds.
“Alot of our games are going to go down to the wire. Our kids stepped up in the end and sealed the deal,” head coach Tom Dunn said in an e-mail.
