Friday night roundup: Pittsford gets in to playoffs, Reading 9-0 for second straight year and Quincy finishes 3-6

Pittsford 35, Vandercook Lake 6
Dealing with a school shutdown because of sickness and going on the road needing a sixth win on a wet, cold Friday night was no problem for Pittsford.
All the Wildcats had to do was keep the ball on the ground and now Bob Clement's club is heading to the playoff for the sixth straight year.
Senior quarterback Garet Lee ran for a school-record 273 yards on just 15 carries and he scored four touchdowns, while the Wildcats ran for 407 yards as a team in the route.
Lee started the scoring with a 55-yard TD run in the first quarter and he would later add scoring runs of 66 and 55 yards in length.
Kurtis Brackman had 12 carries for 48 yards and the other Wildcat touchdown.
The Wildcats did not throw a single pass.
The Pittsford defense held Vandercook Lake to 218 yards of offense and forced six punts.
Vandercook QB Zack Patrick was 8-for-16 for 84 yards, while adding 40 yards rushing.
Running back Matt Negus had 61 yards on the ground and three catches for 43 yards. Negus caught a 25-yard touchdown pass from Patrick for the Jayhawks lone score.
The Wildcats rallied to make the postseason after losing their first two games.

Reading 28, Edon (OH) 0
For the first time in school history the Reading Rangers have put together back-to-back undefeated regular seasons, as they shut out Edon in Ohio Friday night to go 9-0 once again.
The Rangers have now won 23 straight regular season games, dating back to 2007.
Head coach Rick Bailey was delighted to finish perfect.
“We're really proud of our guys going 9-0 two seasons in a row,” he said. “That speaks a lot about our players. We're excited to make another playoff run.”
On Friday Matt VanNuys ran for 133 yards on eight carries and scored two touchdowns, while Brian Rauth ran for 132 yards on 22 attempts.
Senior QB Joe Hubbard hooked up with Alex Eastwood on a 9-yard TD and Billy Julian had a 2-yard TD run against the school he transferred from for his senior year.
While the final result was sweet for Reading, the team was unable to play its final contest under its home lights, as the field was flooded due to Friday's heavy rains. The team instead boarded a bus and headed to Ohio.
Bailey said it was a little disappointing, but he's more focused on the future.
“Certainly we would have liked to have played at home because of our seniors,” Bailey said. “I think because of the fact we're 9-0 we should get a playoff game at home so that will help.”
Edon had 188 yards of total offense and turned the ball over three times.

Michigan Center 34, Quincy 0
Quincy ends the year 3-6 following it second consecutive shutout loss.
The Orioles received to start the game and ended up fumbling on the first series, giving the ball to the Cardinals on the 28 yard line. On a 2nd-and-2 play, Korey Stewart ran in for a 20-yard score for Michigan Center.
Quincy was able to get a drive started at the 25-yard line, which was started with runs from Michael Brewer and Brandon Licht. Cyrus Raymond was 1-for-1 on the drive with a completion to Carson Mead. The Orioles were held to a 4th-and-1, but a false start made it a fourth and six and the Orioles had to punt.
Michigan Center went 3-and-out and the Orioles took over on the 25 again. Raymond completed a pass to Bobby Banker for a short gain, which was followed by two rushing attempts by Brewer. The Orioles faced a fourth and 16 and had to punt. The Orioles punt was a good one, but was picked up by Michigan Center's Cody Marr and returned for a touchdown.
On the next Quincy drive, the Orioles were able to get into Michigan Center territory on a 31-yard rumble by Licht. After a holding call, Raymond's pass was intercepted by Derek Dowding and returned for a score. The score was taken away on a penalty and the Cardinals took over on their own 29. Three plays later, Zack Jones scored on a 58-yard run up the middle. The point after made the score 21-0.
On the next Oriole possession, Quincy got into Cardinal territory and another Raymond pass was picked off by Marr at the 43. The Cardinals scored 5 plays later on a 23-yard pass from Dowding to Stewart. The point after made the halftime score 28-0. The Cardinals came out and closed out the scoring on an 11-yard run by Stewart at the 4:01 mark in the third quarter.
Quincy had 180 yard of offense, with Raymond going 4-of-12 for 24 yards and two picks. The Orioles rushed for 156 yards on 33 carries, with Brewer carrying 25 times for 109 yards.
Cody McClellan and Andrew Tobalske carried the Quincy defense with 7 tackles and 11 tackles, respectively.
The Cardinals totalled 378 yards on offense, with 281 yards on the ground. Dowding was 4-of-10 passing for 97 yards and a score.
Quincy ends the season at 3-6 overall and 3-3 in the Big Eight Conference.
